What Is a Controller Item in Once Human?

After defeating the boss of a Monolith or a Securement Silo, press [F] next to its remains to use a Controller to obtain all the rewards (if you press [G] to expel it, you will only receive the basic rewards), in addition, you don’t need to have the Controller item equipped, as the game will pull them directly from your backpack.

Here’s how to get the Controller item in Once Human:

  1. Complete Weekly Commissions
  2. Complete the Journey
  3. Complete Weekly Hale’s Moving House
  4. Complete Public Crisis Events (three each day)

Weekly Commissions are tasks you must complete to earn rewards like experience points and the Controller item. For example, one challenge will task you with taking five photos with the camera, and another will have you craft 70 ingots. You’ll be able to complete five Commissions every week, each earning you Controller items. In addition, after the week is over, you’ll earn additional Controller items.

The Journey

Press [J] to open the Journey screen, which introduces various features and items. Completing Journey tasks can grant rewards such as Experience, Controllers, and Starchroms. You can complete tasks by following the guidance provided whenever you wish.

Hale’s Moving House

Hale’s Moving House will appear in one of four locations. Once found, you’ll need to enter the house and shoot the arms sticking out of the ground with the glowing fireflies above it. Then, you’ll want to exit the house and shoot the glowing fireflies on the bellow of the house to get it to drop. Afterwards, head back inside the house and shoot the arms with the glowing fireflies again. Finally, you must use the Q button to locate items where the fireflies are hiding. Once completed, you’ll earn a chest and the Controller item.

Public Crisis Events

Public Crisis Events are unique features that are periodically activated within the wilderness. There are various types of Public Crisis Events, and cooperating with other players to complete them can yield substantial rewards. Pay attention to the Public Crisis Event markers on the map, which allow you to teleport to the corresponding location to participate quickly.
