Space Marine 2’s class system is a significant upgrade over its predecessors, however, it still suffers from the same core issue—some of the classes are just broken in PvP. If you like having every advantage you can get, use some of the following classes, as they’re the best classes for PvP in Space Marine 2.
Best Classes for PvP in Space Marine 2: Ranked
1. The Vanguard
The Vanguard is unequivocally the best class for PvP in Space Marine 2, and that’s a plain fact. Not only does he get access to some of the best weapons for multiplayer in Space Marine 2, but his class ability is tailor-made for taking out single targets in a swift flurry of blows.
The one and only weakness that the Vanguard has is his lowered Armour Class rating compared to some of the other classes. Still, even this is negligible as the Vanguard uses speed to survive, not armor. So long as you’re constantly moving between cover, you’ll be the highest scorer on the team easily.
2. The Assault
Right behind the Vanguard is the Assault. The only reason the Assault class isn’t on the top spot is because it lacks the weapon array of the Vanguard. In all other regards, the Assault class is arguably superior. It has better armor, better mobility, and a more utilitous class ability.
Another advantage that the Assault class has over the other classes is that it can easily disengage from fights, which is practically impossible for the others once they get stuck in. Use this to your advantage. Always go for the classes that are weak in melee: Sniper, Heavy, and sometimes the Tactical.
3. The Sniper
Compared to the previous two classes which are good at multiple things, the Sniper is good for one thing only: assassinations. That however is more than enough to rank it among the best classes for PvP in Space Marine 2. There is a catch though.
To make the Sniper class effective, you have to use the Bolt Sniper Rifle. The reason for that is that the Bolt Sniper Rifle offers extra damage for headshots. Don’t even bother using any of the other weapons as they’re practically useless.
4. The Heavy
The Heavy class isn’t very fast, it doesn’t have that good of a weapon array, and it doesn’t have any melee weapons whatsoever. What it does have is the Multi-Melta and the Iron Halo class ability, one of the most synergistic combos in the game.
For all intents and purposes, the Multi-Melta is like an instant delete button of whatever is caught in its blast. Its only downside is that it’s cumbersome. Thankfully, the Heavy’s class ability is excellent for closing the distance safely. In general, the Heavy isn’t a bad class for PvP. The only issue with it is that it requires a lot of practice to learn how to effectively use it in PvP.
5. The Tactical
A jack of all trades but a master of none. That’s the best way to describe the Tactical in Space Marine 2. It’s decent at everything while excelling at nothing. That however is not good enough in a PvP environment. The only advantage the Tactical has over the other classes is that it has the largest weapon array in the game.
That’s about it though, everything else is a disadvantage with this class. It can be sort of redeemed if you get really good with it and learn how to use it in a supportive capacity, just don’t expect to be at the top of the scoreboard when using the Tactical.
6. The Bulwark
The Bulwark is a PvE class. That’s pretty much it. It has no redeeming qualities for PvP. Its class ability is only good if you’re fighting at a specific spot. All you have to do as the enemy is to get out of that spot, which only takes about two seconds to do.
It has no good ranged weapons. Its melee capabilities are decent but not on par with the other melee classes, and its shield is just an inferior version of the Heavy’s Iron Halo. All in all, avoid using this class in PvP unless you really like it.
