How to Get Awoken Coelacanth in WoW: The War Within

If you’ve been fishing in the newest expansion, you might be frustrated with this rare fish. Whether you want to farm them for cooking or to sell them, the Awoken Coelacanth might be among the more difficult to catch. So, here’s how to get Awoken Coelacanth in WoW: The War Within.

In this case, you want to go to Azj-Khahet, which seems to have the best luck for this fish. I prefer the section of the river that runs along the north side of the City of Threads, but you should technically be able to fish them up in any water in the zone. I just like this area since it’s a large river and close to a flight path, which makes it convenient. However, you need to do a bit of preparation before heading out.

The buff from 10 Whispering Stargazers is required to reel in an Awoken Coelacanth. These are primarily found around the shores of the Isle of Dorn. Look for Stargazer Swarms, and you should be able to fish up a handful from each pool. If you’re looking to sit and farm multiple Awoken Coelacanth, then the more Stargazers you have, the better. Once you have at least 10, return to Azj-Khahet and find your farming spot. Then, toss in the Whispering Stargazers and fish.

In addition to the Stargazers, you want your fishing level and perception to be as high as possible. While they aren’t needed for catching the Awoken Coelacanth, it gives you a higher chance to get one from every batch of Stargazers. You can raise these stats by throwing fish from Khaz Algar into the water, using equipment, and getting the Ghoul Fish food buff.
