After completing the main campaign, you might be looking for something that’s more challenging. Wild Bastards has a solid base formula that makes you want to experience more content. If you’re looking for challenging content that isn’t just bumping up the difficulty, then you should try out the Challenge Mode for Wild Bastards.
How to Unlock Challenges in Wild Bastards
You unlock the Challenge Mode immediately after completing the main story campaign in Wild Bastards. We have details on how long beating the campaign will take. Other than that, you’ll have to complete each available Challenge before proceeding to the next. Each Challenge ramps up the difficulty value and adds new modifiers. You’ll have to go through the entire Challenge Mode gauntlet in Wild Bastards if you’re looking to 100% the game.
Wild Bastards Challenges Modifiers
Challenge Mode isn’t like the campaign where you must go through several Sectors. Instead you only need to complete a single Sector. However, there are several restrictions placed on you.
- You start with only a few specific characters that start at fixed levels. The screen also specifies which characters can be freed from jail.
- There is a fixed length and enemy difficulty modifiers set for the Challenge run. This difficulty modifiers rise at higher challenge levels.
- Sometimes there will be featured enemies that will spawn in almost every single Showdown.
- Special Rules are modifiers to make the run even more of a challenge. These can include things like all Pals are Feuding, or Princes will arrive fast.
Challenges Rewards
Most of the rewards you get for completing Challenge Modes are new Equipment unlocks. These pieces of equipment will become available in your Campaign runs and future Challenge mode runs as well. Other than that, you get the satisfaction of beating Challenge Modes with difficult modifiers and game states that need to be resolved through a combination of strategy and precise gunplay. We’ve currently progressed past five Challenge Modes and the rewards, so far, are Equipment only.
It’s a difficult and condensed version of the main campaign sectors with more flavor. The rewards are a bit lacking, but for those of you who want to test all of their mechanics and strategic capabilities when playing against the odds, it can be a fun 20-30 minute session. If you enjoyed the base campaign and just want to drop by for another taste of Wild Bastards, go with the Challenge Mode.
