It was only a matter of time before Final Fantasy was available on PC.
Square Enix recently announced that Final Fantasy IV: The After Years would be coming to Steam next month. The game is now fully updated and enhanced as a 3D remake of the original mobile game. Players can take part in the sequel to Final Fantasy IV, complete with brand new and classic characters, Steam achievements and trading cards, and an intro movie by Visual Works.
The game is set about 20 years after FFIV, following the original characters and their descendants as a new villain appears. As this mysterious villain shows up, an equally mysterious chain of events occur that threaten the safety and fate of the Blue Planet. Players will use the mechanics, assets, and locations of the original game, updated with new graphics and gameplay.
FFIV: The After Years was originally released a mobile game in Japan in 2008. It was later ported to the Nintendo Wii, on WiiWare, in 2009 for North America, Europe, and Japan. It was then bundled with other FF games for the PSP in 2011, for Japan, North America, Europe, and Australia.
Square Enix already released the English version of the game on the Apple App Store, the Square Enix Market, and the Google Play store. The game will be released on Steam next month, May 12th. Players can preorder it now and get a 10% discount.
