MapleStory held a quest event early last month to raise money toward charity:water, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing clean water to regions in the world that need it. More than 200,000 players participated in the quests, leading to $10,000 being donated to the cause.
Lasting from late September to early October, players had to complete two quests to show their support for the cause and to maybe learn a little bit about what charity:water is all about.
Players had to fill the gauge monitoring the charity’s progress, which went up with each quest completed. The first quest had players collecting water droplets from monsters, while the second quest had them hold a water container for 30 minutes.
The $10,000 MapleStory players raised was paired with Karma Koin’s donation of $250,000 to charity:water, making the total donated to the cause $260,000. Karma Koin is also owned by Nexon.
Nexon’s donation has gone toward the charity’s efforts to bring safe, clean water to Rwanda. The donation will be used to bring a clean water system to 3,600 people in the Rulindo district of the country.
