I made the mistake of listening to the 2.B.A. Master album again, and I must ask:
What Pokemon type resounds with you the most?
Everyone has their favorite type of Pokemon. We’re not talking in-game trainer levels of dedication to each type, but the type that you tend to gravitate toward.
I have some sort of weird love for Poison, Grass, and Bug-type Pokemon. I don’t know why, they’re not even particularly good types. Bug-types have three weaknesses, and Grass has four weaknesses. Poison only has two, but Poison-type Pokemon are generally pretty weak. So what gives?
When I was younger, I gravitated more toward Water, Ice, Dragon, and Ghost-types. I don’t know what happened with the shift, but I can’t help but think that it shows how I’ve changed over the years. Is the me today some sort of poisonous parasite, while the me of ten years ago was a big-eyed hopeful with a trickster streak? Actually, don’t answer that.
Is there a pattern?
Do some types of people like certain types of Pokemon more? Your tastes obviously change as you age, but the people who actually play the games tend to get attached to their Pokemon. People get attached more easily to things they can relate with, and it just so happens that I relate best with creatures in a video game that poison and suck the life out of their enemies. What a surprise.
My favorite Pokemon is an oldie but a goodie: Oddish.
Hey buddy!
And you know what? Oddish isn’t the best Pokemon. He has evolutions that are much stronger and cooler-looking than Oddish could ever be. But he is my favorite Pokemon, and always has a place on my team and in my tiny, parasitic heart.
