A brand new indie 3D adventure platformer game by the name of Poi has made its way to Kickstarter and already (by the time this is being written) has raised $3,774 pledged out of its $80,000 goal.
Now, what exactly is Poi? According to the game’s developers, PolyKid, say that the game is heavily inspired from old Nintendo games like Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario 64.
Looking closely at the screenshots for the game, you can see how much Nintendo has influenced the levels and mechanics.
The game is still in early development. The developers still need 3 more worlds, improved animations, more 3D models and textures, and music, which they hope to create with the Kickstarter funds.
Although the game is not even close to completion, it looks promising and full of potential.
The story starts with a young runaway who is napping under a tree. He wakes up to a book falling onto his head. Annoyed, he picks up the book and sees the words “Explorer’s Log” written in big golden letters.
