It looks like Allison Road won’t disappoint us the way Silent Hills did. As the ill-fated Konami horror title becomes a more distant memory, its spiritual successor (or replacement?) is only getting bigger.

It came as a huge shock to most of the gaming community when Konami announced they would not be proceeding with Silent Hills, as it had already gained a mass following with Guillermo Del Toro and Hideo Kojima at the project’s helm. Though Silent Hills is no more, a comparable survival horror game has emerged the shadows – known as Allison Road.

Some gameplay footage was shown back when the game was first announced earlier this year. We watched the character creeping around an abandoned house, complete with an eerie ghost girl. It all looked amazingly realistic, too, due to the use of Unreal Engine 4. So all those jump scares and atmospherics should be a sight to behold in the full version. Lilith, the developer behind the game, has just revealed some great images of a new location to investigate. It’s a forest setting that looks incredibly dark and eerie – all the makings of a perfect horror environment. The developers had this to say:

“Anyone who was ever lost in – or for whatever reason spent a night in – a forest will certainly agree that it’s scary as hell. There are just so many uncanny shapes and sounds all around you. You can’t see anything, but you know you’re not alone out there. All things considered, it’s obviously only in your head for the most part, but we really want to play with audio/ visual cues, your imagination, and primal fears like a threat to your life, isolation, abandonment, etc. to make it a truly memorable experience.”

As you can see from the images there’s some sort of forest beast lurking about with tree-like horns, and it looks pretty menacing! Some great design work has gone into the game by the looks of it. Here’s hoping they reach their Kickstarter goal, it’ll be released for Steam in 2016 if all goes well! All you horror fans out there should get donating.

Hi guys, The names Toby and I'm from the UK, I'm 26 years old and I've had a huge passion for the gaming world pretty much since birth. My first gaming console was the NES and I've got my parents to thank for that one, since then I have been gaming non stop, mainly on Nintendo consoles and handhelds but I've recently branched out into Sony's world and I'm playing a lot of Steam games. My favourite genre's are probably JRPG's, Platform, Action/Adventure and I love games with a good story, things like The Last Of Us, Ni No Kuni, the Professor Layton series. I'm a massive Zelda nut, always loved the franchise, the characters and the different art styles, not to mention the music. Apart from gaming I enjoy going to the gym, reading and general socialising. Quite a big film buff as well and I love my music and the cinema! That's me in a nutshell anyways, look forward to chatting games with you all! :)
