Alexey Pajitnov, Tetris creator, to have a biopic film directed by Brett Ratner

Tetris has been around for as long as I can remember. Established in the 1980s, there have been many different versions of the classic formula since then. And now it’s coming to the big screen. Ratpac Entertainment, a Los Angeles film studio owned by James Packer and his partner Brett Ratner (director of X:Men: The Last Stand), will at the helm of a biopic movie detailing how the game came to fruition.

It’s been described as an origins story, and will follow the life of Russian video game designer Alexey Pajitnov, who created the iconic title. Tetris was developed and designed during the Cold War, and there was a lot of trouble involving the rights to the game. It spread like wildfire among different programmers and was very quickly sold without Pajitnov’s permission. This led to years of legal battles in which he had to fight for the rights to the game he created.

It’s definitely an interesting story, and could be well worth the watch. Over the years there’s been a number of biopics made with great success. The Social Network, which followed the life of Facebook’s co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, received high praises upon its release. It’s also likely to attract a mass audience, as Tetris is something nearly everyone has heard of, regardless of whether they’re gamers or not.

Hi guys, The names Toby and I'm from the UK, I'm 26 years old and I've had a huge passion for the gaming world pretty much since birth. My first gaming console was the NES and I've got my parents to thank for that one, since then I have been gaming non stop, mainly on Nintendo consoles and handhelds but I've recently branched out into Sony's world and I'm playing a lot of Steam games. My favourite genre's are probably JRPG's, Platform, Action/Adventure and I love games with a good story, things like The Last Of Us, Ni No Kuni, the Professor Layton series. I'm a massive Zelda nut, always loved the franchise, the characters and the different art styles, not to mention the music. Apart from gaming I enjoy going to the gym, reading and general socialising. Quite a big film buff as well and I love my music and the cinema! That's me in a nutshell anyways, look forward to chatting games with you all! :)
