Jamie Eden, Game Director at TT Games, announced the game via a post on the PlayStation blog. The post describes how TT Games was allowed to work with Lucasfilm for specific characters and locations from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Along with the post came a very humorous LEGO parody of the first Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer which you can find at the top of this post.

Along with the announce trailer, Eden goes on to say that LEGO Star Wars will give PS4 and PS3 players access to exclusive downloadable content which includes a Droid Character Pack and Phantom Limb Level Pack. No further details were released for the DLC.

More information on LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released in the coming months. Until then, May the Force be with you.
