Hot on the heels of the announcement of an officially backed Bloodborne card game, we are now receiving information regarding a Kickstarter being formed for a Dark Souls board game.  Tabletop game company Steamforged Games — who previously released the fantasy sports board game Guild Ball —  have announced a partnership with Bandai Namco Entertainment to create this new Dark Souls project. They posted this announcement on their site.

Steamforged Games is proud to announce we will be working with Bandai Namco Entertainment, developing an exciting board game for the Dark Souls universe.

As Dark Souls fans, we could not be more excited to be given the honour of developing a board game that embraces everything that makes Dark Souls the deep, compelling game experience that it is.

The site states that the official Kickstarter should be launched sometime this month, but has been given no concrete date as of yet. Despite not having a long list of previously made titles, Steamforged does have the honor of having won most innovative game award at the CRISIS 2015 board game event in Antwerp for Guild Ball. This should indicate that we can expect features that will make this board game unique from other video game re imaginings.

Guild Ball was also funded through Kickstarter, amassing pledges roughly three times higher than the amount requested for their game. It will be very exciting to see how the Dark Souls community rallies behind these new up and comers, especially with the enthusiasm that will no doubt follow the third installment of the series, Dark Souls 3releasing April 12th.
