“The Last of Us is a masterpiece, Playstation 3’s best exclusive and an absolute must-play,” says one of IGN’s Senior Editors, Colin Moriarty. IGN goes on to praise the game’s fluid game-play, stellar native, how easily relatable the main characters are, and how absolutely captivating the campaign was.
“The 17 hours I spent playing through the campaign are among the most memorable I’ve ever spent with a game.“
While The Last of Us‘s campaign’s review puts the game second to none on the PS3 console, the multi-player mode is said to be just as fantastic, with a rich original feel. There are two game modes, “Supply Raid” and “Survivors.”
“Both are atypical in their approach, especially Survivors, which presents players with a best-of-seven series in a four-on-four match where death is brutally permanent.“
“Supply Raid, on the other hand, is about whittling down your team by eroding their overall life count. It’s more generic than its counterpart, but the idea of having a shared number of lives forces you to strive for better play.“
The Last of Us not only joins Uncharted 3, God of War: Ascension, and Infamous at the top of IGN’s PS3 reviews board, but beats them all. With the game being the first original title to reach this high up on the board, one can only hope that more masterpieces will follow.
