It’s not a story you’d normally see on a gaming site but this one is too great to pass up. A nine-year-old named Bryce had his Pokemon card collection stolen from him by an older kid — It was a big deal, he had been collecting cards since he was six.
Bryce told reporters with Fox 8 in Cleveland, “Then my mom called the cops and they showed up.”
Officers Ken Kirk and James Grotenrath came to the scene to fill out the police report. Even though they found the kid that stole the cards, a lot of the cards had been damaged and some were missing. Grotenrath said he felt the pain the nine-year-old collector must have been feeling, “I would be heartbroken too if my cards were taken from me.”
Grotenrath found his own collection in his closet at home. He returned to the boy’s home where he gave him quite a gift — Grotenrath’s entire collection including a rare Ancient Mew.
Grotenrath said, “It’s a priceless item, but it’s better to see someone else smile. And in my book, like my partner says, just happy to see a citizen smile instead of always frowning upon us and looking the other way.”
