In an incredibly smart and lucrative partnership decision, Best Buy is partnering with Nintendo to bring unreleased Wii U games to the public during the week of E3.
At select Best Buy locations (full list below), consumers will be able to try playable demos of unreleased games announced by Nintendo during their Nintendo Direct press conference on Tuesday, June 11th. The Electronics and Entertainment Expo (E3), is an exclusive press and business only event, and is arguably the biggest gaming news event of the year.
In a shocking decision, Nintendo decided not to participate in the media feeding frenzy with a formal press conference, as per their usual–and that of all the other major competition. However, they may be able to remedy what some view as a damning move, with this particular stroke of genius.
Some of the games announced on Tuesday morning will be playable at select Best Buys across the United States and Canada, starting Wednesday the 12th, from 4pm-8pm. “Play it First” events will run throughout the week of E3, into the weekend.
During the “Play it First’ events, Best Buy will also be offering sales on Wii U hardward, as well as other Nintendo software and accessories, making these events an all around win for everyone involved.
To verify whether or not your local Best Buy will be participating in the Nintendo/E3 “Play it First” event, check with your local store, or look through the list below.
Will you be watching Nintendo’s live streaming Nintendo Direct press conference? Or instead, will you be camped out at your local Best Buy, waiting to get your hands on an unreleased game before anyone else?
