Mario Kart 8; Fans Rejoice–Mario Rides Again!

This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

For those gamers who have been patiently waiting, Mario Kart 8 was officially announced at the Nintendo presentation at E3 this morning!

The game will be exclusively available for the Wii U, and will be (yay!) in HD! It is planned to be released in Spring, 2014. As expected, there will also be new racing tracks, and another feature I might be the most excited for- anti-gravity karts. You’ll be able to drive upside down, on walls and on ceilings. No, really.

There will be online play for up to 12 players, and something called Mario Kart TV, where players will be able to share highlight videos from the game. Some features from Mario Kart 7 are being brought back, such as underwater racing and hang-gliders.

Motorbikes, which were originally used in Mario Kart Wii, will also be making their way back into the game.

The game will run at 60-frames per second and promises to be one of the most visually exciting Mario Kart games released so far!

Another exciting point, is that Waluigi and Toadette will be rejoining the team of characters to race.

Another game worth mentioning (also announced at E3), is Super Mario 3D World.
