A Reality Based on Fantasy: 10 Incredible Final Fantasy XV Cosplays

Say what you will about its recent missteps, but the Final Fantasy series has always been a huge favorite for cosplayers, with its variety of unique and recognizable characters. 

Whilst Final Fantasy XV is still a month-and-a-half from release, people have already begun to embrace the new cast and produce stunning cosplays.

Here are 10 of the best yet -- and it's hard not to be impressed by the skill and dedication that must have gone into each of these!

10. Gentiana

Cosplayer: Cha Arden

This is a remarkably well-done makeup picture that gets the mysterious Gentiana spot-on. It's also nice to see lesser-known characters receiving attention this early on.

9. Ignis Scientia

Cosplayer: K-tetsu

Ignis seems to be the "sensible one" in FFXV's main cast. This cosplayer pulls off Ignis's cool, composed persona; and the cosplay also does a fantastic job with his gravity-defying hair!

8. Prompto Argentum and Noctis Lucis Caelum

Cosplayers: Berry-Cosplay & Tira-Misu

Using the characters' Versus XIII designs, the awesome composition of this shot could be taken straight from the game world with Prompto and Noctis surveying the kingdom of Lucis. And despite not being able to see their faces, the two cosplayers still manage to accurately depict the characters' mannerisms to a tee!

7. Lunafreya Nox Fleuret

Cosplayer: Rael Uchiha

Cosplayer Rael Uchiha gives this Lunafreya costume a suitably regal and strong-willed look. Great work on the awesome trident tops off this great cosplay.

6. Noctis, Prompto, Gladiolus, Ignis & Cindy

Cosplayers: DepthChargeCosplay, KalvinKeroC, Ryan King, NaniMizu & VividVision

Group cosplay! Whether or not it's cheating to include a whole group, these guys absolutely nailed the game's main cast whilst cosplaying at PAX West. Each and every one has a super accurate costume and personality to match! Extra kudos for the great weapons too.

5. Noctis & Lunafreya

Cosplayers: Squall and Rinoa

This is another superb cosplay duo. Not only are the costumes on point, the two look scarily like Noctis and Lunafreya. The composition of this picture is accentuated by the background frames and it's a wonderful tribute to the two main characters' complicated relationship.

4. Cindy Aurum

Cosplayer: Byndo Gehk

There are already dozens of Cindy cosplays out there -- she's proving to be a hugely popular character. Whilst many are fantastic, this version is the most accurate I've seen in terms of both costume and Cindy's upbeat attitude!

3. Prompto Argentum

Cosplayer: Dat-Baka

Noctis's childhood friend and all-round ball of charisma, Prompto is another early fan-favorite -- and this cosplay by Dat-Baka is a triumph. Whilst the costume is of a high quality, it's the expression and pose that really makes this particular Prompto cosplay so awesome.

2. Gladiolus Amicitia

Cosplayer: Leon Chiro

Rarely (if ever) have I seen a cosplay this mind-blowingly accurate. Leon Chiro basically is Gladiolus in this badass portrayal of Noctis' brother in arms. Be sure to check out Chiro's Facebook page above for photos of the full costume, which is just as epic as this.

1. Noctis Lucis Caelum

Cosplayer: Misama

I had to do a double take on this picture to realize it's not CGI. Cosplayer Misama has aced his depiction of FFXV's protagonist Noctis with this hyper-detailed action shot. It's dynamic and could easily pass for an in-game scene.
