[Site Update] Forums, Polls, and Points … Oh my!

Vegetarian’s beware! Today’s release is pretty meaty – we’ve got some completely new features, some tweaks and improvements, and a lot of great stuff laying groundwork for even more exciting features down the road. Enough rambling on from me – I’ll lay off the cheesy “change” graphics for this one and just dive right into what’s new.

Not Quite the Roman Forums

Here at GameSkinny, anyone can create a full in-depth post with images, headings, tags, and more. But sometimes you really just want to discuss something, get a quick idea out, or troll someone. Now you can in the GameSkinny Forums. We’re starting out very basic with the forums right now, but we will continue to make them better.

You can get to the forums from the Browse section of the header on any page. When our editors see great content and discussions in the forums, they may also promote those threads.

Polls, Not Poles

We’ve got questions, you’ve got answers! Polls now appear in the sidebar on many pages throughout the site. Like forums, polls are in a very early stage – we have plans to continue to improve them and make them more useful to our authors as well as our readers. We’re very excited that anyone can comment on polls so should you choose, you can share why you voted one way or another!

In the meantime, if you could use some poll data while researching a post or have a fun idea for a poll, feel free to leave a comment or contact the editorial team.

Our polls indicate that the GameSkinny bunch are a particularly happy group.

Get to the Points!

Haven’t you always wished you could keep score on GameSkinny? Now you can! Even better, your score can unlock new features. To start, at 1000 points, you can unlock custom backgrounds on your profile and dashboard pages. We’ll be adding more fun new features tied to your score. How do you get points? We’ll cover that in another post soon!
