Recently, PS3 users have been encountering an error with the system. After installing a firmware update, many players were having trouble rebooting their systems.

At first, no one could figure out what the issue was. Later, on 6/20, the PSN people updated the message boards to let gamers know they were examining the problem in an attempt to fix the issue.

Morgan Haro, SCEA PSN Community Management Team Member, had this to say on the message boards:

“Hello all, Wanted to follow up and let you know that we are still activaly examining the issue in which certain users experienced problems booting their PS3 after the firmware update. Thank you for your patience, but I don’t have any more news to share at this time. Please continue to watch this thread for updates, and subscribe to it to receive emails for further updates.”

This morning at 8 a.m., an update was posted on the community boards:

We have identified the issue related to the PlayStation 3 software update (version 4.45) that impacted a small number of PS3 systems earlier this week. A new PS3 system software update is planned to be released on June 27 that resolves the issue. Thank you for your patience and understanding and we apologize for the inconvenience.”

The post went on to say that if there were any further updates, they would be posted between now and then. Gamers can now only wait (possibly banging our heads against a wall) for the fix to come.
