Starting as a Kickstarter project, OUYA consoles are flying off the virtual shelves after its official release on June 25th. The OUYA console is a new, innovative, way to provide Android entertainment on any big screen television.
Where It All Started
OUYA started as a project on the popular investing website Kickstarter, and raised more than $8.5 million, making the project the second most successful in Kickstarter history. Supporters who invested a certain dollar amount to the project were promised an early release of the console. The early release of the console began March 28th, 2013 resulting in mixed reviews.
The Problem
Simply, many contributors to the original idea still have yet to receive their OUYA console, resulting in negative feedback, as OUYA consoles are now officially available to the public. OUYA’s CEO released the following statement:
“I am pissed, some of you have not yet received your Ouya — and, to you, I apologize. I did not promise to ship to *most* of you before we hit store shelves. I promised to ship to *all* of you. I’ve been reading your comments, and we are working to solve this.”
When Can Supporters Expect Their OUYA Unit?
OUYA’s head of operations, Ken Stephens, announced that supporters will receive an email shortly with a tracking number. Although, the shipment process does take around 20 daysor so once an email is received. Supporters shouldn’t expect their new console for another two weeks.
