The new Dualshock 4 controller for the Playstation 4 has found a way to squeeze even more into the standard game controller. Which, I’ll be honest, I didn’t think was possible. However, there is this not-so-nifty feature that people are already tweeting about.
Sony’s President of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida confirmed today on Twitter that the light on the DS4 controller will not turn off. Yoshida twitter profile has been bombarded with tweets asking whether you can dim the light or if the light will stay on when the system is off, but at this time he has not commented.

Now the light bar does have a purpose. It isn’t there just to put a glare on your screen. The PS4 camera will use the light to detect motion. One of the system functions is to alert the player when the battery is low.
It will be interesting to see how the DS4 controller battery stands up against hours of gaming once players have it in hand. The controller also sports a mono speaker, a 3.5mm headset jack, a micro USB port, and a clickable touch pad on the front of the controller.
