Since Disney’s purchase of the Star Wars franchise there has been continued speculation towards the direction Disney will take with the classic series. Many people are wondering if we’re going to have Mickey Mouse as a Dark Lord of the Sith and what not in Episode 7, but the potential merging of Disney’s Kingdom Hearts III with Star Wars characters could be a very real possibility.
This has a lot of potential for Disney to draw in a niche group of gamers to an already successful game title.
Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura had this to say about the possibility:
“We’ve been talking about Star Wars itself since it became Disney’s content recently,” Nomura said, “When I [heard] the news I was like, ‘wow! Wow!’ Yeah, obviously it’s gonna be great if we could add it, but like I said, there are a lot of restrictions and rules by Disney so we don’t know what’s gonna happen but yeah, we’ll see.”
The plot should continue to follow the Dream Drop Distance with the world selection still being decided in development, but does that include Alderaan, Tattooine, or even Nar Shaddaa? With Kingdom Hearts still being in an early stage of development, we should be given a better idea about certain events. Come October, events such as the Tokyo Game Show or the D23 Expo Japan will likely give us a more in depth look at this classic title.
