 The Story

Murdered: Soul Suspect is a twist on the normal detective investigation type game. You play as Detective Ronan O’Connor, a bad-ass chain smoking cop who plays by his own rules.Ronan gets caught up in a burglary gone wrong and is murdered by a mysterious hooded figure. Ronan’s spirit must then navigate the world of Limbo and try to figure out who killed him and why. As a spirit in limbo Ronan can only interact with the real world in very limited ways, but his new found supernatural abilities combined with his years of detective experience will allow him to find the truth behind what really happened to him. As the game says “The hardest murder to solve is your own”.

 The Abilities

Ronin will have the ability to possess people but not in a traditional way. While possessing someone Ronan can’t control their actions or move them around. What he can do is use it too look through their eyes and listen to conversations through their ears. The fun doesn’t end there, Ronan can also use his own thoughts to help potential witnesses remember what they saw, he can also read the witnesses mind to gain information that the cops don’t have.

Though Ronan does have the ghostly ability to walk through walls, sadly, the citizens of Salem have christened their houses. This stops Ronan from passing through exterior walls, forcing you to find an open door or window to gain entrance into houses. Luckily interior walls are not christened, allowing you to pass through almost any interior wall in the game.

The Combat

Limbo is not a very safe place, it is inhabited by all sorts of spirits and demons. The combat with these demons involves you playing a game of cat and mouse, as you try to sneak up on a demon to rip it apart from the inside. You will be able to use your possession ability to hide in humans to either pass by or pop out and surprise the demons. Ronan can also use his teleport skill to quickly close the gap in combat.

 Overall

Dead detective with supernatural powers had me hooked from the moment I heard about it, and this new trailer is everything I hoped for. I can’t wait to get my hands on the PC version. Murdered: Soul Suspect does not have a firm release date yet, all we know is that it will be releasing for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC in early 2014.
