The next generation of consoles may be coming soon, but PlayStation 3s still go far in these streets. Just ask two 14 year old kids in Washington County, Pennsylvania — 20 miles south of my hometown of Pittsburgh.
On Wednesday night, a pair of middle school students in southwestern PA traded their PS3 for heroin and six hits of LSD. The hallucinogenic drug fetches between 5 and 15 bucks. A used Play Station 3 can bring in over $100.
They got a better deal than if they’d traded it in at a major games retailer, if the price of the LSD was on the higher end of the spectrum… Still: face, meet palm. Cripes.
The eighth grade students were hospitalized in local facilities because of reactions to the LSD, but have since been released. The matter of “corruption of minors” is pending further investigation by local police. No arrests have been made at the time of writing.
