You wanted more Red Dead Redemption 2 coverage? We’ve got it.
Rockstar just released a massive mountain of details regarding the game’s weapons, customization options, and additional specifics about the combat system.
The detailed weapon page on Rockstar’s website looks like a period piece newspaper designed to sell you a variety of different weapons. According to the sheet, there are over 50 unique weapons in the game, and this page only shares a handful — so there’s still plenty of weapons to discover when the game releases.
For those who played the first game, there’s also a handful of nostalgic items returning, such as the Volcanic Pistol, Cattleman Revolver, and the Carbine Repeater, to name a few.
The numerous customization options featured in the game grant players the opportunity to put personal spins on every gun they wield. The options include visual upgrades like changing a weapon’s metal, woods, varnishes, and engravings, to improving a weapon’s performance by changing a gun’s barrel, grip, sight, or scope to your specifications.
The page also details how your horse acts as your mobile armory, carrying all of your weapons. However, your character can only hold so much; any weapon you leave on your horse cannot be pulled out in the middle of combat, so make sure you’re carrying your favorites when you leave the saddle.
Your weapons can also use a unique ammo type that lets you perform specific tasks or provides a unique advantage. Ammo varieties include Split Point, High Velocity, and Explosive.
The end of the page breaks down how the player’s special ability, Dead Eye, functions. Much like the first game, this mode slows down time, allowing the player to run their crosshairs over their enemies in small red “x’s”.
As the player progresses in the game they will to highlight an enemy’s vital organs; of course, shooting these areas does significantly more damage and is likely fatal.
