It’s evident that our smartphones and tablets are becoming more and more immersed into the world of gaming, but will they be good enough to be considered a gaming console? Take-Two president Karl Slatoff says yes. He and the Take-Two team are confident that they will be able to produce games for tablets which will be enable users to have the same experience as on any other console.
Slatoff says,
“I have every reason to believe that a tablet will be a great game platform, and we’ll be right there. I do think we’re a couple of years away.”
Don’t get too excited yet. Tablets are bound to improve their hardware and with all these companies working together, why wouldn’t having a tablet as a gaming system be a good idea? Tablets are light and large enough to view the image clearly. The only problem for the companies seems to be the lack of a controller, seeing as this limits to what developers can do with the game.
Last month, Fireaxis Games came out with XCOM: Enemy Unknown on iOS with a price of $19.99. Sales were great and Take-Two believes this is a positive sign towards people taking console games seriously for tablets. Does this mean that games for the tablets will be the same price as other console games? Yes. Does this mean you will believe your tablet can play a game equal to or better than your computer or PS4? That’s up to you to decide.
