The Trials of Mana remake is a month and a half away, but luckily, Mana fans are getting some new footage that delves into the new version of this Super Famicom classic before we reach next month’s release.
PlayStation Underground takes us through a few of the game’s systems as well as combat in the 20-minute video above — and most of my anxieties are relieved just like that.
From the overworld map and Flamie’s extreme cuteness to the ability customization system and telegraphed combat, the team behind Trials of Mana seems to know what this title needed to be brought to the modern gaming market, all without losing the charm and sense of adventure of the original game.
The video also gives us a look at the whole fight with Fiegmund, one of the game’s handful of Benevodons (you may know them as God Beasts, depending on your initial experience with Seiken Densetsu 3).
With a faster, more accurate combat system, new enemy mechanics, and a bunch of other facets of the game that are not broken like they were in the original game, there seems little to complain about in this remake. We’ve got a while to find out yet, though, as Trials of Mana is slated to release on April 24 on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
