Easing the collective down, a gentle bump pulsed through him as the ‘copter settled on the pad. As much as he hated to admit it, despite their animosity – and several misguided attempts to murder him – he missed them. Sure, he couldn’t stand to be around them most of the time, but he hadn’t wished this.
Axisaver had been away on extended deployment assisting the Pact’s Rotorcraft Development Initiative, an unusual task his small build suited him for, when he got the word via carrier pigeon. The gravity of it shook him to a state of silence for a day. The insanity of it all.
“To weather Zhaitan,” he thought, shaking his head, “just to die from a cold?”
Thoughts elsewhere, he rolled the throttle down and killed the engine, absentmindedly reaching behind to tug the rotor-brake. It made no sense to him. Afterall, how could a healthy, self-sufficient and well supplied warband possibly fall ill and die, one member at a time like dominoes? What were they doing? Where were they? What dragon cursed disease could possibly extinguish their lives so thoroughly?
“Too many questions,” he muttered, disconnecting his flight suit from the aircraft and retrieving his equipment from the stowage compartment. Leaning out of the access hatch and dropping to the ground, Axisaver glanced at the forest of tent masts piercing the tree line in the distance, each one seemingly vying to overtake the others by height and girth. Flags of the Ash Legion fluttered on their pinnacles.
Overnight Elan Axisaver became gladium. His honor demanded to know why, and where better to start asking questions then at the top? He was going to get answers any way he could, even if he had to break in and sneak a peek inside Swordshadow’s filing cabinets to do so.

His design emphasis has always been that of reduction of bulk. Yes, Charr can be hulking beasts, but they can also be lithe feline predators. Sleek, stealthy, biological killing machines. Looking like you strapped a brick wall to your shoulders would be detrimental at best for keeping unseen. Being uncluttered also means you can fit into spaces others cannot, such as, in this Charr’s case, the cockpit of an aircraft.
