Capcom’s been silent on Resident Evil Village since the new Resident Evil game first debuted during Sony’s Future of Gaming PlayStation 5 event. Though that hasn’t changed, RE leaker AestheticGamer — spotted by Video Games Chronicle — dropped a new bit of alleged information about the project, namely that Resident Evil Village will be the longest Resident Evil game using Capcom’s new RE Engine.
The same applies to the rumored-and-half-confirmed Resident Evil 4 remake in the works, as well as other unspecified projects using the RE Engine.
(1/2) RE3 is longer than a DLC piece & did include Resistance, though I know many like to neglect that as they personally don’t care about it.
However, if you’re worried about really short RE games, you don’t need to. Let’s just say I have an “inkling” about what RE games are in https://t.co/fRzzUDO8my

(2/2) in dev right now, I’m only talking about RE8 right now but people know RE4 is also coming up at this point. RE8 will be the longest RE Engine game to date, & without saying too much the other stuff coming up should follow a similar trend.

If this info turns out to be correct, Resident Evil Village will be longer than Resident Evil 7, the Resident Evil 2 remake, and the recent Resident Evil 3 remake. In fact, criticism over RE3 remake’s length and cut content is what prompted AestheticGamer’s comment. Otherwise, they said they’d been asked not to say much about it or the other games teased in the comment.
As VGC noted, Devil May Cry 5 was built on the RE Engine and clocks in at roughly 11 hours. So after performing some very difficult and arcane mathematics, we can safely say RE Village will be at least 11 hours and one minute long.
How that pans out is anyone’s guess, since we still know very little about Resident Evil Village, but this info does at least suggest RE8 will boast a meaty single-player campaign. Again, though, take all of this with a grain of salt until further information comes to light, which Capcom is planning to release soon.
Hopefully, we won’t have long to wait. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Resident Evil Village news as it develops.
