Thunder Lotus’ long-anticipated Spiritfarer had a vague 2020 release window for a long time, and the developers just recently teased new characters. But the indie management adventure is finally available — right now — following its prime spot in the most recent Nintendo Indie World Direct.
It’s available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, as well as PC through Steam, Epic, and GOG, for $29.99. It is also available on Xbox Game Pass.
According to Spiritfarer‘s creative director Nicholas Guérin, it wasn’t easy to keep the game’s launch a secret.
I will say that it’s been pretty tough keeping this launch under the radar! We took what is by far our biggest, most ambitious production yet, and decided to up the ante by releasing Spiritfarer simultaneously on almost every system under the sun.
The Spiritfarer release date trailer provides a lengthy look at what makes Spiritfarer so ambitious. Half of Spiritfarer is making sure Stella’s departed passengers are happy and have everything they need to make that final journey.
That involves building up the boat, growing crops, setting off for lands unknown, making music with your passengers, and meeting all manner of other characters along the way.
The other half of Spiritfarer is saying goodbye to those passengers you’ve grown to know so well. We took a deeper look at what’s involved in Spiritfarer‘s death portion a while back, but suffice to say, keep those hankies at the ready. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for our Spiritfarer review in the coming days.
