Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis Bringing Full FF7 Lore to the Table

Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis will be bringing the full FF7 lore to the table, with graphics reminiscent of the original PlayStation title.

No matter your experience with Final Fantasy 7 and its spin-offs, if you want to experience the story before the version presented in Remake, one of yesterday’s FF7-related announcements might be just what you’re hoping for. Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis was announced alongside The First Soldier, the first battle royale to carry the series moniker.

Ever Crisis, though, is likely a more comfortable sort of title for fans as a total rehaul of the Final Fantasy 7 universe.

Ever Crisis will include the original Final Fantasy 7, with additional story content later added to the universe in Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. It looks to be the full Final Fantasy 7 story, before the events of Remake.

On top of what appears to be the inclusion of all relevant story content, the game features a chibi visual style reminiscent of the blocky graphics of the original PlayStation title. Its battle visuals are much more detailed, however, and it has a more modernized, real time battle system.

Fans of the original Final Fantasy 7 may find some notable discrepancies in the trailer, particularly Aerith being in the party during the scorpion fight in the Mako reactor at the start of the game. We’ll have to wait for release to see how or why she is present much sooner than before.

Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis is scheduled to release on Android and iOS devices in 2022, but it too will be an episodic release like Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Let’s hope this is a paid title along the lines of Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition, and not some sort of gacha game as some are predicting.
