Gyroids were one series staple missing from Animal Crossing: New Horizons at release, but as of the new 2.0 update, they have finally found their way to your island — and beyond.
You can’t just dig Gyroids up from anywhere in New Horizons. You’ll have to get lucky with what items are found in the ground on your island, or on one of Kapp’n’s boat tours can take you on a tour of.
How to Find Gyroid Fragments in Animal Crossing New Horizons
Gyroid Fragments are found underground in the exact same way you find fossils. There’s a chance you may find one instead of a fossil anytime you take your shovel to a crack in the ground, provided you’re not on a Mystery Island.
You can find Gyroid Fragments on player islands, including your own, as well as on Kapp’n tours. But you cannot find them on the Mystery Islands you can use Nook Tickets to visit through the airport.
Kapp’n can be found at your island’s pier, and will offer a ride for 1,000 Nook Miles.
How to Grow Gyroids
You’re prepped for this job if you’ve planted flowers, bags of Bells, or anything else. Well, mostly. You’ll need a Watering Can, too.
All you have to do after you’ve gotten a Gyroid Fragment is to dig a hole, plant it, then water it.
After a day, it will sprout into a cute beat-playing Gyroid! What you get each time is random, and it will take some time to get them all.
