Europe has officially taken Grand Theft Auto 5 off the digital pre-order market. Social media manager Sid Shuman announced Saturday on the PlayStation Blog that the game will no longer be available in the PlayStation Store.
Turns out that some of those who downloaded the digital pre-order were able to access some Grand Theft Auto 5 features. Instead of being cool and enjoying the surprise, the lucky few posted them online resulting in the shut down.
Regrettably, some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of Grand Theft Auto V through the PlayStation Store in Europe were able to access certain GTA V assets. These assets were posted online. We have since removed the digital pre-order file from the PlayStation Store in Europe. We sincerely apologize to Rockstar and GTA fans across the world who were exposed to the spoiler content. GTA V is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year with a very passionate following, and we’re looking forward to a historic launch on September 17.
Friday, Grand Theft Auto 5‘s soundtrack was leaked from the pre-ordered files from both Sony and Microsoft’s online stores. Hopefully the game will be put back on the pre-order market as soon as all of this has been taken care of.
Do you think that taking the game of the pre-order market was a good idea? Where do you see the sales going from here? I would love to see your thoughts.
