Sons of the Forest is brought to you by the same studio that made The Forest. Stranded on an island of cannibals, you need to find a way to survive and uncover the truth behind a few disappearances. However, you don’t need to go on this journey alone as you can play with up to eight people on a single server. With that in mind, you’ll need to know how to play multiplayer in Sons of the Forest.
Sons of the Forest Multiplayer Explained
From the Sons of the Forest main menu, select Multiplayer and choose if you’re joining a game or hosting a game.
Hosting a Multiplayer Game
If you’re hosting a game, you can select a new game or to continue one you’ve already made.
For a new game, you’ll select a difficulty, with the option for a custom difficulty. A custom difficulty allows you to decide details like enemy stats, seasons and their lengths, and if you want to take damage from starvation or dehydration.
You’ll then name your new server, choose the number of players you want to allow in a room (2-8), and decide if you want to limit your server to only players on your friends list.
How to Invite Friends
Then, you can start your server and either wait for others to join or invite your friends in the server lobby before you begin the game by using the “Invite Friends” option at the bottom of the screen. Otherwise, you can tell them your server’s name for them to search in the Join screen if they can’t hop on the game right away.
Joining a Multiplayer Game in Sons of the Forest
If you’re joining a multiplayer game in Sons of the Forest, then all you need to do is choose which server you want to join. You can use the filter feature to search for a specific server name, or you can browse the whole list, which includes the game’s difficulty setting for each available game.
