The lithographic puzzle is a new roadblock in the Resident Evil 4 remake, which you’ll encounter in Chapter 8 after a mid-chapter cutscene. Here, you’ll find yourself in a room with a door that has four indentations, but it’s not immediately clear what to do. Here’s how to solve the puzzle.
How to Solve the Lithograph Puzzle
You’ll notice that one of the door indentations has a lithograph stone in it already, but you’ll need to poke around the room to pick up the other three stones to complete this puzzle.
- Stone 1: Lithographic Stone B — On the table near the puzzle door.
- Stone 2: Lithographic Stone C — On the stack of books by the door.
- Stone 3: Lithographic Stone D — On the display case in the corner of the room. Break the glass to get it.
Pick up each of these lithograph stones and return to the door. Surprisingly, you’ll insert the stones in a set order that you can’t choose. Only after they are initially placed can you move them to the correct positions.
Each stone for the lithograph puzzle has two sides and can be flipped. Each stone also has one dark image and one light image of either a sword, a helmet, a shield, or a suit of armor. Further, it’s important to note that each image on the stone is surrounded by either a square or hexagon outline.
With that in mind, look at the inside of the indentations where you placed the stones. These communicate the symbols you’ll need to match on each of the four sides.
For example, the top indentation is a Shield with a Square. The other three give you more incomplete information, but the solutions are below:
- Left Slot: Helmet and hexagon
- Top Slot: Shield and square
- Right Slot: Sword and square
- Bottom Slot: Armor and hexagon
That’s how you solve the lithograph stone puzzle in Resident Evil 4 Remake. The door opens, and you can continue your search for Ashley inside the castle. For more guides on the RE4, visit our guides hub for the remake.
