Learning a New Game is a Whole New Journey

This weekend, our gaming group is going to try a new game.

While our normal games are Pathfinder and Vampire, we are choosing to add the new Star Wars table top RPG to our repertoire, pending our enjoyment of it. The new Star Wars Edge of the Empire will see its first test run this weekend. Be sure to check out my review of our first session next week.

What makes it a new journey?

Each system has its own world and its own way of doing things. Add a different storyteller as well and the game takes on even more of a new dynamic. There are always some new trips that the group can laugh over as we discover this bright new world (or dark depending on type of game).

You can form new characters that were only in your imagination. You get to explore grounds you have no knowledge of making it a truly unique experience. If you’ve played Dungeons and Dragons for years, you tend to learn those lands fairly well and it gets harder to pretend you don’t know the area when you start a new game.

What gaming systems have you seen that you would like to try and what is so appealing about them?
