There are many ways to pass the time in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. One of these is called Holotactics, an auto-battler minigame that’s a joy to experience. Here’s our guide to help you unlock Holotactics in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor by completing the Odd Pair sidequest.
The Odd Pair and Holotactics in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
The Odd Pair, Tulli and Bhima, are two NPCs that you need to find if you want to unlock Holotactics. You’ll receive a rumor about them from Moran, one of the patrons in Pyloon’s Saloon, just after you complete the Forest Array main quest.
From there, you’ll want to head to the Boiling Bluff, which is past the Untamed Downs zone. The two are fairly close to the fast travel point in that area, but you’ll have to defeat a Mogu (i.e., Forest Wampa) just so they feel safe. Talk to them afterward, and they’ll happily move to Pyloon’s Saloon.
Basic Tactics for… Holotactics
This will unlock the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Holotactics minigame. You can access it by talking to Tulli and Bhima on the second floor of the cantina. Here are some important tidbits to consider:
- You can face off against other NPCs that have moved to Rambler’s Reach Outpost. They’re usually found as you’re doing rumors/sidequests or while exploring Koboh’s areas.
- Your units consist of enemies that you’ve defeated and scanned. As such, remember to scan foes with BD-1 if you see a prompt.
- Each unit has a particular Battle Points (BP) cost. However, your remaining unused BP each round will carry over to the next.
As an auto-battler minigame, units will move and act accordingly based on their roles and usual attacks. For instance, Shield Troopers will charge into the thick of the fray, while Rocket Troopers and Heavy Assault Troopers will stay at the back to provide ranged fire support. There are even Roller Mines that will just rush straight ahead before exploding.
The idea is to pick the right units that can counter the opposing side. Defeating a character yields a particular reward.
In any case, that’s how to unlock Holotactics in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, as well as a rundown of its basic mechanics. It’s just one of the many ways you can try side activities in the game. There are others that might pique your interest, such as Rooftop Gardening, Bounty Hunters, or Aquarium Fish.
