Honkai: Star Rail — How to Get Equilibrium Level 2 and Break the Level Cap

Equilibrium Level 2 is one of the midway points in your Honkai: Star Rail playthrough. Here's how to reach it.

Equilibrium is a key progression mechanic in Honkai: Star Rail. Every few Trailblaze Levels, you’ll need to complete an Equilibrium Challenge to unlock the max level for your characters, Equilibrium Level 2 unlocks your characters’ levels to a maximum of 50, and thus access to harder content, and then to better rewards. Be aware that once you reach a new Equilibrium Level, it stays that way, so ensure you’re prepared.

When you reach Trailblaze Level 30, you’ll get the quest Trial of the Equilibrium: Part Two and be directed to the Corridor of Fading Echos on Jarilo-VI. This is the dungeon just before you fought Cocolia during the quest line on that planet. The portal into the Trial is nearest to the Containimated Plaza Space Anchor. You’ll face two level 39 boss-level enemies: Guardian’s Shadow and Stormbringer.

There is no time limit to the Trial, nor are there any other significant limitations. The only requirement is to defeat both bosses. Deal with whichever enemy gives you trouble first, so if you fail, you haven’t lost as much time. I went for the Guardian’s Shadow to start, as while they don’t usually give me trouble, there have been times when I’ve struggled to beat them.

Against the Shadow, you’ll want to use Physical, Wind, or Quantum damage. If you’ve manage to pull Seele, she’ll do great. Physical Trailblazer and Dan Heng are also great choices. Watch what attacks or actions the Shadow bans, as taking those actions will cause an immediate counterattack. If the Guardian’s Shadow builds up stacks, attack as often as possible so its strongest attack gets weaker.

Fighting the Stormbringer is all about dealing with its arrow attack. When it starts charging its energy arrow, do everything you can to Break the boss, and if you can’t, have a support ability (preferably an Ultiamte) ready to go. Its other attacks are less of an issue, though they can apply the Wind Shear DoT.

Once both bosses lie defeated, you’ll have completed the second Equilibrium Trial, and Honkai: Star Rail‘s level cap will once again be raised for you. For more help and advice, check out our other Honkai: Star Rail guides.
