How to Find and Open the Well-Chewed Chest in WoW: Dragonflight

Since it’s in the Zaqali Caldera, you’ll have to learn how to find and open the Well-Chewed Chest in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight with limited dragonriding. Although the chest is locked, it isn’t too difficult to get the key.

How Open the Well-Chewed Chest in WoW: Dragonflight

The Well-Chewed Chest is tucked away in a cave in the Zaqali Caldera around the coordinates (X:30, Y:40). You’ll also find a Massive Corebeast in that cave, which is very useful for all this because you’ll need to kill the Massive Corebeast to get the Scorching Key to unlock the chest.

I got a bit unlucky with this one, so keep in mind that this encounter can be a bit fickle. The Massive Corebeast must have been killed right before I arrived at the cave, and I had to wait for a while before it respawned. It’s a rare elite, so you might want to bring along friends to help you defeat it. It also appears to have multiple spawn points, all within the Zaqali Caldera.

However, you don’t need to be part of killing the Massive Corebeast to retrieve the key. It’s on the ground underneath the beast and near its head. I didn’t realize this initially and spent a lot more time than needed trying to open this chest. This is where the long respawn timer can be useful since you can run in, grab the key, open the chest, and leave far before it returns if it’s already dead.

Eventually, I was able to open the Well-Chewed Chest to receive six Whelpling’s Shadowflame Crest Fragments and a couple of other goodies.

And that’s all there is to opening the Well-Chewed Chest. This chest is convenient to grab if you’re grabbing the Zaqali Caldera Dragonriding Glyph since the cave is in the path of the glyph if you’re hugging the right-hand wall.
