Fossil Pokemon have always been a part of the Pokemon games. All the way back in Generation 1, you could beat up a Super Nerd in Mt. Moon and choose a fossil; later in the game you could have this fossil brought back to life as a member of your Pokemon collection! Each generation has followed suit, and so it is no surprise that X & Y would grant us fossils to add to the collection.

First up is Tyrunt, the Royal Heir Pokemon. Tyrunt sports the Rock/Dragon type pairing. It has the ability Strong Jaw, which boosts the power of biting moves. Nintendo revealed that part of its Pokedex entry reads “It’s believed that Tyrunt is over one hundred million years old. The Pokémon is known to be a bit selfish, and will throw a fit when it doesn’t like something.” You can obtain a Tyrunt by using the Jaw Fossil.
Tyrunt evolves into Tyrantrum, the Despot Pokemon. Its Pokedex entry reads “Tyrantrum’s greatest weapon is its gargantuan jaws, which can shred thick metal plates as if they were paper.” Some of the moves that this Pokemon can learn include Crunch, Dragon Tail, and Head Smash.

Reviving a Sail Fossil will result in Amaura. The Tundra Pokemon has both the Rock and the Ice type. Like Tyrunt, it is believed to be one hundred million years old. It has the ability Refrigerate, which turns Normal-type moves into Ice-type ones.
Amaura evolves into Aurorus, who is also classified as the Tundra Pokemon. Aurorus can learn Auroura Beam and is known to have a move called Freeze Dry, which is said to do super-effective damage to Water-types.
