Dragon’s Prophet Soars to a Fiery Launch

What cool new stuff comes with the full launch of Dragon's Prophet?
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information
After a long open beta Sony Online Entertainment’s new MMORPG, Dragon’s Prophet has finally gotten a proper launch.

With the official launch, DP has gotten a bunch of new features and updates that both new players and pros can enjoy:

A Facelift for the Starting Areas

The starting areas have been updated so newbies have a better and easier time diving (or flying, depending upon your choice of dragon) into the game. One of the major complaints about DP in the past was the lack of quest variety in the early stages of the game (I hear some people at SOE Live call it too WoW-ish). The team has remedied this by adding new quests, and retooling many of the old ones to better display the unique attributes of DP.

There has also been an increased capacity for rare item drops and rare mobs. Now, new players will have more options to grow and be generally awesome from the get-go.

In With the New

Who cares about fixing old problems, right? Let’s look towards the future of Dragon’s Prophet instead.

The full launch has added the first stages of PVP called the Frontier System. The Frontier System will allow guilds to join forces (aptly called Alliances) and battle for supremacy over floating Frontier Islands.

The rulers of the Frontier will be able to set rules and guidelines for the area as well as defend their control with specific weaponry and defense options. This will eventually include siege weapons and specially spawned mobs that can be spawned by the rulers to keep those bloodthirsty rival Alliances at bay.

**An areal tour of the (not so) peaceful Inartia.**

Have Inertia Fling You Into Inartia

A new zone called Inartia has also been launched with the full game. Inartia is a snow-doused land (for the most part) that was once home to an ancient dragon. Unfortunately for you (and me, and everyone else) it is now home to oodles of irate beasts and humanoids that would probably love to eat your innards. Or at least that’s what they say to me.

Inartia has a brand new story with new bosses, new dungeons and new mobs. But what good are all of these new options without an increased level cap? Well fear not, the level cap has been increased to level 80 so even the most established warrior will see bloody challenge in the depths of Inartia.

**That’s not threatening at all. I definitely didn’t soil myself. I have to go home.**

What’cha Buyin’?

If you have a satchel of gold burning a hole in your frock you may want to mosey on over to the various marketplaces.

In addition to some new bundles and weapons there have been numerous price adjustments made to many items. You can also check out the Dragon Insignia store, now containing many items that were previously only available to those of us fortunate enough to be flush with station cash.

Those are just some of the great new features launched with the full release of Dragon’s Prophet, but more goodies are sure to be added over the next few months. Dragon’s Prophet free-to-play and if you’ve ever had the urge to capture, train and ride a dragon you can click here to download and being your dragon-y adventure.

If you’re looking for more information about Dragon’s Prophet you can check out some of my SOE Live coverage right here, including an interview with the ever-enthusiastic Todd Carson, Senior Producer of Dragon’s Prophet.

And don’t forget: I’ll be covering Dragon’s Prophet all year long, so keep it locked right here, or here to get my monthly DP column.

What are you most excited to discover now that Dragon’s Prophet has finally spread its wings: Do you want to dive head first into Inartia, or gain supremacy of a Frontier with your guild alliance? Sound off in the comments down below and maybe one day we can all have dragons in our home (queue that sad music in the Sarah McLachlan commercials where she tries to guilt trip us into stuff)!
