EVE Online, created by CCP Games, is one of the most successful sandbox MMO titles of all time. Spanning ten whole years, it’s accumulated numerous awards, and even achieved itself a spot at the New York Museum of Modern Art’s video game art exhibition. This winter, the game is set to expand once more with its 20th expansion.
Twitching To Be Heard
Via a stream on Twitch.tv starting tomorrow (Thursday September 26th 2013) at 8pm UTC (4pm EST), the announcement will include Senior Producer, Andie Nordgren, looking back over the game’s success as well as outlining the general direction of its future. Then developers will unveil the expansion itself.
Although certainly tantalising, the game has received some ire of late from players over the recent rewording of its policy concerning gamer impersonation, and has also lost one of its lead developers, Kristoffer Touberg, who has now left CCP Games to work on League of Legends.
Therefore, the reception and promise of the upcoming expansion of the game may well be very telling of how well the title can continue to keep its momentum and cling to its prestige.
