Where to Find Hateno Village in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

Hateno Village might be out of the way, but you'll want to go there in any Tears of the Kingdom playthrough. Here's how to find it.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Hateno Village location is one of the more out-of-the-way areas in the game. If you want the full Royal Armor set, a fancy hat, and a window in the far southeastern reaches of the map, you’ll want to find the area. Our guide tells you where to find the Hateno Village location in TotK and the best way to get there.

You’ll find the Hateno Village location in the far southeast of Hyrule Kingdom, near the coast of the Necluda region. To its north is Mount Lanayru and the Mount Lanyru Skyview Tower. To the southwest is Mount Taran and the Rabella Wetlsnda Skyview Tower.

The Best Way to Hateno Village in TotK

I found the fastest way to reach Hateno in TotK is to travel south from Kakariko Village and make your way east through the swamps. There’s a road that will take you all the way there.

When you reach Hateno village, you’ll want to activate the Zanmik Shrine for easier access to the town unless you’re playing without fast travel.

After acquiring the Ultrahand ability and repairing Robbie’s hot air balloon, you can access the Hateno Research Lab. Robbie will supply the Travel Medallion, the Sensor+, and access to the Hero’s Path map feature, provided you meet the requirements.

Reede and Cece: Hateno Village Mayoral Election

Hateno Village is also home to an ongoing conflict between its current mayor, Reede, and a fashion designer, Cece. The latter serves as the armor vendor for the town. You’ll need to complete what can be a multi-quest chain regarding a mayoral election to have full access to Cece’s inventory, and you shape the village’s future in the process.

The quest reminded me of one of the more involved early quests from The Witcher 3. There you have to settle a competing set of vintners, only to discover the two are not as at odds as they believe.

You’ll also want to visit the Dye Shop while in Hateno. At the shop, you can change the color of your clothes but also the design of your paraglider, should you have any other designs to use.

And that’s how you reach the Hateno Village location in Tears of the Kingdom. Though it’s a pretty remote area, the rewards you can earn are worth your time.
