Square Enix Creates Final Fantasy Committee to Oversee Quality of Series

Would you say the Final Fantasy series has risen or fallen over the past five years? Personal opinions aside, Square Enix seems to be just as worried about the quality of their flagship series as many long-time fans are, and they are not eager to see the franchise go down in flames.

According to Japanese site FF-Reunion, Square Enix have formed a four-man committee to ensure the quality of future Final Fantasy titles. Just who, might you ask? Four titans known for their work on the series in the past:

• Naoki Yoshida (Producer and director of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn)
• Yoshinori Kitase (Director of Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI through VIII; and helped development on several other games in the series)
• Motomu Toriyama (Director of Final Fantasy X and XIII)
• Hajime Tabata (Director of Crisis Core and Final Fantasy Type-0)

There are certainly some big Square Enix names one might assume to be shoe-ins but are sadly missing from the Final Fantasy committee roster, though many of them are busy with other development projects.

Will this new committee be able to pull the Final Fantasy series up and make it a name synonymous with quality once more? All we can do is hope.
