Diablo 4 Best Sorcerer Build Guide

The Sorcerer is one of the best classes in Diablo 4. Here are some of the best builds to let you take advantage of that.

Diablo 4 Sorcerers are the main ranged class in the game. They’re made of glass, but they can call on the powers of ice, fire, and lightning to obliterate their enemies. Sorcerers come with a wide range of skills. From turning into lighting and teleporting through enemies to freezing entire rooms and summoning a giant fire snake. There are a wide variety of Sorcerer build options, too. We’ll be covering two of the best in our guide below.

Best Sorcerer Builds in Diablo 4

There are a couple of different endgame builds that stand out for Sorcerer, but these are two of the best builds in the entire game. They rival the very best Necromancer builds and Rogue builds and let you nuke demons as a glass cannon:

  • Arc Lash Sorcerer
  • Ice Shards Sorcerer

Diablo 4 Arc Lash Sorcerer Build

Arc Lash Sorcerer is one of the best builds in the game. It’s a simple and effective melee-style build built around Arc Lash, which is a Basic Skill. Arc Lash activates other lightning skills with Unstable Currents, while Glinting Arc Lash and Overflowing Energy are used to reduce your cooldowns. I like to call it a shockingly effective way to play the game…

Mostly, you’ll activate Unstable Currents before big fights, cast Frost Nova when you have it, and spam Arc Lash. Your shield spells are there to keep you alive. Put Firebolt and Ball Lightning into your Enhancement Slots.

Arc Lash Sorcerer Skills

This build assumes you have all 58 available skill points from being at Level 50 and maxing out each zone’s renown rewards.

  • Basic: Arc Lash Level 5, Enhanced Arc Lash, Glinting Arc Lash; Firebolt Level 1
  • Core: Charged Bolts Level 1, Enhanced Charged Bolts, Destructive Charged Bolts
  • Defensive: Teleport Level 1, Enhanced Teleport, Shimmering Teleport; Frost Nova Level 1, Enhanced Frost Nova, Mystical Frost Nova; Ice Armor Level 1, Enhanced Ice Armor, Mystical Ice Armor; Flame Shield Level 1, Enhanced Flame Shield, Shimmering Flame Shield; Elemental Attunement Level 1; Glass Cannon Level 3
  • Conjuration: Align the Elements Level 1; Protection Level 3; Precision Magic Level 3
  • Mastery: Ball Lightning Level 5, Enhanced Ball Lightning, Wizard’s Ball Lightning; Inner Flames Level 1, Devouring Blaze Level 3
  • Ultimate: Unstable Currents, Prime Unstable Currents, Supreme Unstable Currents; Coursing Currents Level 3; Electrocution Level 3; Convulsions Level 3
  • Key Passives: Overflowing Energy

Arc Lash Sorcerer Legendary Aspects

The best Legendary Aspects for this build increase your damage to stunned and frozen enemies, increase your attack speed, and generally buff your damage and survivability. As with all Aspects, you’ll want to use the version that’s as close to max roll as possible.

  • Aspect of Control
  • Rapid Aspect
  • Accelerating Aspect
  • Aspect of Retribution
  • Stable Aspect
  • Conceited Aspect
  • Aspect of Might
  • Aspect of Disobedience
  • Exploiter’s Aspect
  • Aspect of Fortune

Diablo 4 Ice Shards Sorcerer Build

Ice Shards Sorcerer is the best endgame build for Sorcerer at the moment, but it’s extremely gear and Aspect dependent. You won’t get the most out of it unless you have every Aspect you need to make it work and items that give you Cooldown Reduction and Mana Cost Reduction. Until then, I recommend sticking with the Arc Lash build. That said, I personally use this build and recommend switching to it when you have everything you need.

In this build, your Frost Nova and Ice Shards spells combine to make you a walking shotgun. In most encounters, you’ll Teleport into the center of a group, cast Frost Nova, and pop Flame Shield to reduce your mana costs. Then you’ll spam Ice Shards. When your Flame Shield runs out, activate your Ice Armor to keep mana costs low and the good times rolling. You can cast Deep Freeze to shield yourself from damage and reset your cooldowns. Rinse and repeat. Put Firebolt and Ice Shards into your Enhancement Slots.

Ice Shards Sorcerer Skills

This build assumes you have all 58 available skill points from being at Level 50 and maxing out each zone’s renown rewards.

  • Basic: Firebolt Level 2
  • Core: Ice Shards Level 5, Enhanced Ice Shards, Greater Ice Shards
  • Defensive: Teleport Level 1, Enhanced Teleport, Shimmering Teleport; Frost Nova Level 3, Enhanced Frost Nova, Mystical Frost Nova; Ice Armor Level 1, Enhanced Ice Armor, Shimmering Ice Armor; Flame Shield Level 1, Enhanced Flame Shield, Mystical Flame Shield; Elemental Attunement Level 1; Glass Cannon Level 3
  • Conjuration: Align the Elements Level 1; Protection Level 3; Precision Magic Level 3
  • Mastery: Inner Flames Level 1; Devouring Blaze Level 3
  • Ultimate: Deep Freeze, Prime Deep Freeze, Supreme Deep Freeze; Permafrost Level 3; Hoarfrost Level 3; Icy Touch Level 3; Frigid Breeze Level 3
  • Key Passives: Avalanche

Arc Lash Sorcerer Legendary Aspects

The best Legendary Aspects for this build increase your damage to stunned and frozen enemies, buff your Critical Strike chance, and buff your Ice Shards. As with all Aspects, you want to use the version that is as close to max roll as possible.

  • Aspect of Control
  • Aspect of Piercing Cold
  • Elementalist’s Aspect
  • Smiting Aspect
  • Edgemaster’s Aspect
  • Conceited Aspect
  • Everliving Aspect
  • Aspect of Disobedience
  • Exploiter’s Aspect
  • Aspect of Fortune

Arc Lash and Ice Shards are the top builds for Sorcerers in Diablo 4, but they’re very different. Arc Lash is an up-close-and-personal build that focuses on spamming one skill. Ice Shards makes you into a walking shotgun capable of clearing rooms absurdly quickly. I recommend you start with Arc Lash and transition to Ice Shards once you have the necessary Aspects and items.

Either of these two Diablo 4 Sorcerer builds will let you get your magic on in the endgame. For other class builds, quest walkthroughs, how to clear a Stronghold, and more, check out our growing library of Diablo 4 guides.
