Splatoon 3 hairstyles come in two dozen shapes and sizes, and better still, there’s (almost) no limit to what style you can pick. Every Inkling or Octoling can choose from whatever hairdos are available to their respective species, regardless of gender.
While the character selection screen limits you to a scant few choices for Inkling and Octoling, more options open up as soon as you arrive in Splatsville. This Splatoon 3 guide collects all of the cuts available, as well as how to change them.
How to Change Hairstyles
Though you pick your hairstyle during character creation before ever setting foot in Splatsville (whether you’ve transferred your data or not), you can change it at any point after you arrive in the city, too.
- Open the menu by pressing the “+” button.
- Navigate to the “Other” menu (the one with the amiibo symbol).
- Choose the “Style” tab.
Here, you can change your hairstyle, eyebrow shape and cut, and your pants style – everything you choose at the start of the game, in other words.
Can You Change Hair Color?
What you can’t alter is your hair color. Hair color changes automatically every time you log into the game and then again at the start of the match, where it always matches your team’s ink color.
All Splatoon 3 Hairstyles
There are 24 hairstyles to choose from in Splatoon 3 – 16 Inkling (squid kids) and eight Octoling (octo kids). There are no gender options, so you can pick whatever hairstyle you want and change it at will.
Take note of the cuts you really want. If you start with an Inkling style, you can’t swap to Octoling hair at all. You’re only option is to create a new character, which means starting from square one again.
So far, no additional hair options show up in Splatoon 3, though the chance always exists that Nintendo may add more in future updates.
