Is Forspoken Coming to Xbox or Game Pass?

Forspoken makes use of the power of current gen consoles, but will it come to Xbox?

Forspoken is one of the latest games released exclusively on current-gen hardware. While it didn’t knock anyone’s socks off on either PlayStation 5 or PC, it has plenty of content and high-quality combat and traversal mechanics to enjoy. Unfortunately, Xbox players or those with Game Pass who want to try out Frey’s adventure in Athia will have to wait to get their hands on the game. Just how long? Read on to find out.

When Is Forspoken Coming to Xbox or Game Pass?

Forspoken is currently only playable on PC and PS5, with the announced Xbox release date coming along in two years’ time: around or after January 24, 2025. That huge gap means the game is liable to receive plenty of patching, so the state it was in on its initial release likely does not resemble its Xbox release.

The game is available on the Microsoft Store, but it’s only for the PC version. When it finally does make its way to Microsoft consoles, it’s highly likely to also be on Game Pass and other cloud streaming services either day one or shortly after that. Between Forspoken’s middling reviews — like ours — and its lukewarm reception more broadly, Square Enix will most likely bring the game to Game Pass.

Console exclusives like Forspoken are a bummer, but the bright side here is that such a “meh” title is potentially a dodged bullet. If you really want to play the game, you’ll have to either do so on PC with its heavy system requirements or bite the bullet and scramble to find a PS5 for a reasonable price.

If you purchase Forspoken, we’ve covered some common issues and strategies, including how to turn down the in-game chatter, the best PC settings, how to skip cutscenes, and more. Our guides hub offers plenty of other tips as well.
