Following the Yakuza 7 (Yakuza: Like a Dragon) English reveal as part of the Summer Game Fest, IGN confirmed Yakuza 7 is getting a PlayStation 5 release and a star-studded English voice cast. There’s also a snazzy new Yakuza 7 trailer showing that voice cast in action.
Sega also told IGN it’s working on an “upgrade path” similar to Microsoft’s Smart Delivery system and in keeping with what we know about Sony and other developers’ approach to a PlayStation 5 smart delivery concept.
Yakuza 7 will also be the same price both next-gen and current-gen systems, $59.99 — no price boost is planned for this next-gen game at least.
Along with being the first turn-based Yakuza game, Yakuza 7 is also the first in the series to feature an English voice dub. However, Scott Strichart, head of the Yakuza localization team, confirmed on Twitter that Yakuza 7 dual audio will be a thing, with lip-syncing changes to match whatever voice options you play with.
Kaiji Tang (Beastars, Demon Slayer, Trails of Cold Steel 3) voices Yakuza 7 protagonist Ichiban Kasuga, while George Takei (Star Trek, Futurama) lends his famed talents to Yakuza 7‘s family patriarch Masumi Arakawa.
Andrew Morgado (Metro Exodus, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4) is Koichi Adachi, a former police officer who joins Ichiban’s group. Greg Chun, who voiced the protagonist in Judgement, stars as ex-nurse Yu Nanba, while Elizabeth Maxwell (Persona 5, Fruits Basket, Attack on Titan) is Saeko Mukoda, “a bar hostess on a mission.”
Yakuza 7 will launch on November 10 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. The PlayStation 5 version of the game will launch on March 2, 2021. Pre-orders are currently open. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Yakuza 7 news as it develops.
