Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil 4 Remake‘s Mercenaries Mode DLC will launch in April. This fan-favorite mode first appeared in the series in the original RE4 and has made its appearance in many other entries since. While you won’t be able to play it at launch, you won’t have to wait long for the free update that will bring Mercs to the remake.
The Mercenaries mode will be added as a free DLC update on April 7, 2023, for PC and consoles. Mercenaries was announced for Resident Evil 4 Remake at the final Capcom showcase before the game’s launch.
The Mercenaries is an intense challenge mode that pits you against waves of enemies on a timer. You complete stages faster and more efficiently for higher scores to unlock more challenges and rewards.
Traditionally, the Mercenaries lets you play as characters other than the main game’s protagonists (in this case, Leon) and try out their weaponry. In the original RE4 Mercenaries, you could eventually unlock and play as Ada Wong, Krauser, HUNK, and Albert Wesker. There is no word if these playable characters will make a return in RE4 Remake, but we sure hope they do.
RE4 Remake is out now for PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you’ve yet to pick up the game, read our review to see why we called it a survival-horror masterpiece. If you’ve been playing, head over to our guides hub for puzzle solutions and more.
