Nintendo, Game Freak, and The Pokemon Company held a Pokemon Presents stream today that revealed a bunch of new games coming to various platforms. The biggest piece of news revealed during this was DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Titled The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, it looks to follow a pattern similar to Pokemon Sword and Shield. This will be a two-part DLC pack that expands the game beyond the main story and introduces new Pokemon to catch.
Part one, called “The Teal Mask,” is set for release this fall and will take players away from the region of Paldea on a school trip to the land of Kitakami. Once there, they will join an outdoor study with the local academy to discover new Pokemon in the region. This trip will coincide with a local festival held every year in Kitakami that sees vendors taking to the streets to sell commemorative items.
Part two, titled “The Indigo Disk,” is scheduled for winter and will take players to Blueberry Academy, which is a sister school to Naranja Academy. There are fewer details about this specific pack, but both parts will link together to create a single story. As well as that, around 230 returning Pokemon from past games will be catchable, upping the count to 630.
You can currently pre-order the season pass on the Nintendo eShop and will even receive a bonus special gift if done so by October 31, 2023. Once purchased, a special code for a Hisuian Zoroark with special properties will be emailed to your email address on file. You’ll have until February 29, 2024, to redeem this code.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet may not be the most technically sound games in the Pokemon series, but Game Freak is dedicated to continuing support for it. Hopefully, during this DLC period, we can expect some performance upgrades.
